Digital Banking Unit (DBU)

Digital Banking Unit (DBU) is a specialized fixed point business unit / hub having certain minimum digital infrastructure for delivering digital banking products & services as well as servicing existing financial products & services digitally, in both self-service and assisted mode.

In furtherance of the objective of availability of digital infrastructure for banking services and as a part of efforts to accelerate and widen the reach of digital banking services, the concept of “Digital Banking Units” (DBUs) has been introduced by the Reserve Bank.

DBU is an identified `Brick & Mortar` Unit

distinctly located from the existing branch, preferably in a separate building, in the identified district wherein banking services are provided through digital modes/channels in a paperless, efficient, safe, and secured environment.

Punjab National Bank is having DBUs in 8 districts, detailed hereunder:

Digital Chief Operating Officer (DBU Head) along with other supporting staff are managing the Digital Assistance Zone.

2. What are the services offered by DBU?

Following services are offered at DBU:

Cash withdrawal and Cash Deposit only through ATM and BNA Machines respectively

Passbook printing through Passbook Printing Kiosk

Internet Banking Kiosk which may also include facilities to provide all/majority of services available on internet banking including indent and issuance/processing of Cheque Book request, receipt and online processing of various standing instructions of clients.

Updation of KYC / other personal details, etc.

Transfer of funds (NEFT/IMPS- assisted by DBU Staff)

Lodging of grievance digitally and acknowledgement thereof and tracking of resolution status

Account Opening Kiosk with Video KYC for Account Opening

3. If loan can be applied at DBU?

Yes, customer can apply for loan from DBU. There are two type of loans:

a) Traditional Loan

b) End to End Digital Loan

Both type of loans can be applied through DBU. In traditional loans, customer can apply for a loan, and a lead will be generated. Customer will be called by Bank representative and the lead will be converted accordingly. While, in Digital Loan, customer will perform all processes digitally and the amount will be credited to customer account.

4. What kind of loans can be applied at DBU?

Retail/MSME Loans for NTB/ETB customers:

Further, traditional loans which can be availed through General Banking Branch (GBB), are available for applying through DBUs in assisted mode, where lead will be generated and the remaining processes will be carried out in (GBB) where loan documents will be executed and disbursement will be done.

5. If Social Security Schemes can be applied through DBU?

Social Security Schemes can be applied through Bank Mobile App, i.e. PNB One. However, if you wish, you can enrol for these schemes through DBU.

6. How is DBU different from other branches?

DBU is a specialized fixed point business unit / hub housing certain minimum digital infrastructure for delivering as well as servicing existing financial products & services digitally, in both self-service and assisted mode, to enable customers to have cost effective/ convenient access and enhanced digital experience in an efficient, paperless, secured and connected environment.

7. Which type of accounts can be opened at DBU?

Customer can open Savings (Individual, Minor, Salary, Secured Saving) as well as current account (Individual & Proprietor) in DBU.

8. Whether Customer can be issued Account Statement printed at DBU?

As DBU is envisioned as paperless banking unit, printing of account statement is not permitted. Customer can print their passbook using Passbook printing kiosk or Multifunctional kiosk. Alternately they can generate their account statement using Internet banking kiosk using which they can send to their email id.

9. Whether a Cheque book can be issued to Customer at DBU?

Customer can apply for a Cheque book through various mode like ATM, CRM, Multi-Function Kiosk & Internet banking kiosk. Cheque book will be delivered to the registered address of the customer

11.Are Locker Services available at DBU?

No, Locker Services is not available at DBUs, but lockers can be applied through DBU.
